Artwork created from sustainable sculpting media

Aharon Arakel

My artistic practice emerges from a lifelong engagement with both
science and the visual arts. While my professional career has been
devoted to scientific research, technology development and
environmental innovation, I have always maintained a parallel passion
for expression through sculpture and craft. For me, art and science are
not separate disciplines, but complementary ways of exploring and
understanding the complexity of the natural world.

Much of my work is inspired by natural structures, organic forms and
geological textures. As a geoscientist, I have spent decades travelling
around the world, observing landscapes, materials and natural
processes, and these observations form the foundation of my artistic
language. I translate branching forms, structural lines and surface
textures into sculptural compositions that reflect both simplicity and
structural elegance.

My current work spans modern sculpture, bas-relief panels and sculptural vases for floral arrangements. A defining aspect of my practice is a strong commitment to sustainability. I am actively exploring the use of mineral-based composites and reclaimed and/or recycled materials as alternatives to synthetic media, expanding the possibilities of environmentally responsible artistic production.

Across my work, I seek to create pieces that reflect the relationship between structure and creativity, inviting quiet reflection on the beauty and complexity of the natural world, as well as the environmental challenges facing humankind in the face of climate change.
