Artwork with Sustainability Motifs
Expressions of environmental themes

These works explicitly reflect a commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability, expressed through both form and material. Extending beyond purely aesthetic considerations, they engage with themes of resource use, waste, resilience and ecological balance, highlighting the connection between human activity and the natural world. Often incorporating reclaimed, natural or mineral-based materials, the pieces transform overlooked or discarded elements into sculptural expressions of both visual and conceptual depth. Across this body of work, sustainability is not only a material choice but a central narrative—where art becomes a medium for reflection on value: of materials, of resources and of life—while maintaining a quiet, enduring aesthetic presence grounded in thoughtful and responsible design.
Uprooted by the wind of climate change

A stark, earth-toned composition of brittle branches, barren ground, and weathered human forms reflects the intensifying impacts of climate change across vulnerable regions of Africa. Trees stand lifeless, uprooted by wind and prolonged water scarcity, while dried wells and eroded soils speak of a landscape pushed beyond recovery. At its centre, a solitary figure embodies loss and endurance, as communities are forced to abandon ancestral lands in search of survival. Through reclaimed materials and raw textures, the work becomes a quiet yet powerful meditation on displacement, environmental fragility, and the human cost of a changing climate.

Uprooted by the wind of climate change

Formed from discarded domestic remnants—an abandoned curtain and salvaged wire—Veil of Survival embodies a quiet tension between fragility and endurance. Its gypsum-based mineral surface evokes both skin and earth, recalling parched landscapes where survival is uncertain. The work reflects on the contrast between material excess and scarcity, transforming waste into a symbol of resilience and inviting reflection on the value of resources and human life.
